Bangladeshi Journalists Arrested
• Two prominent Bangladeshi journalists, Kagoj Shyamal Datta and Muzammil Babu, were arrested by the police in Mymensingh.
• Datta, Editor of Bhorer, and Babu, Managing Director and Chief Editor of Ekattor TV, were taken to a police station in the district.
• Datta is known for his extensive coverage of India-Bangladesh relations and has previously courted controversy for his revealing reports.
• Both journalists had visited India on June 21, during the state visit of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
• The arrests are believed to be related to cases related to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s period, with potential genocide cases against her for her role in the killing of protesters during July-August 2024.
