India’s Wildlife and Conservation Funding Requirements
• India plans to spend around ₹81,664 crore on biodiversity and conservation from 2025 to 2030.
• From 2018 to 2022, India spent ₹32,207 crore on conservation and biodiversity-linked programmes.
• To meet higher financing requirements, India will need funds from sources beyond routine government expenditure.
• The expenditure from 2018 to 2022 was purely allocated to various Ministries or statutory bodies for conservation and biodiversity-linked programmes.
• International finance is necessary to meet these goals.
• The KMGBF and DSI are key means of implementation, including financial resources and technology.
