Mamata unveils Kolkata’s longest skywalk to Kalighat Temple.

• West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee inaugurates the longest skywalk in Kolkata, connecting S.P. Mukherjee Road to the Kalighat Temple. The event took place on the eve of Poila Baishak (Bengali New Year). Banerjee called for peace, respect, love, humanity, and communal harmony, a call that came amid tense situations in West Bengal since April 8. She also inaugurated the renovated Kalighat Temple and a new hawkers’ corner for street vendors. The skywalk, built by the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC), was built after a two-year delay. Banerjee also promised a similar skywalk near the Dakshineswar Kali Temple in 2018 to promote religious tourism in the State.
