Nipah Death in Kerala
• A 24-year-old man from Wandoor, Malappuram, died from Nipah infection.
• Health Minister Veena George confirmed the case at the National Institute of Virology, Pune.
• The man, a Bengaluru student, died after showing hepatitis symptoms.
• The man’s serum samples were sent to the virology laboratory at the Government Medical College Hospital, Kozhikode.
• The Health Department followed the Nipah protocol and formed 16 committees.
• As many as 150 people were identified in the victim’s primary contact list and instructed to isolate themselves.
• Five of them showed mild symptoms, and their samples were sent for testing.
• All potential contacts are being traced and observed.
