    PM solar project is driven by ‘zero electricity bill’ promise.

    • Jagshibhai Suthar, a resident of Gandhinagar, Gujarat, installed 3.24 kW solar panels, reducing his electricity bill to zero.
    • He received a credit of ₹248 in the bill.
    • Suthar is a beneficiary of the PM Muft Bijli Solar Yojana (PMSY), a ₹75,000-crore, Centre-led scheme to install at least one crore rooftop solar installations across India.
    • PMSY provides a subsidy of 60% of the solar unit cost for systems up to 2 kW capacity and 40% of additional system costs for systems between 2 kW and 3 kW capacity.
    • As of August 2024, Gujarat leads the States in installed rooftop solar capacity with 4,195 MW.
